Zine making with Aleesha Nandhra

In our forth session, we collaborated with illustrator, storyteller and printmaker, Aleesha Nandhra. We began the session with a centring meditation practice, helping us tune into our feelings. Then Aleesha led quick mark making exercises, before leading the zine making. We closed the session with collective sharing and a gratitude practice.

What did we learn?

✨We need to start and stop putting pressure on the outcome or it being perfect.

✨We are all on the path of self-discovery. There are things we’re still learning about ourselves - it’s okay we haven’t got everything figure out.

✨Saying difficult things out aloud helps us release the tension from our minds.

✨Your intuition never lies - stop bypassing what you want and need.

✨Making time to breathe, make and reflect is nourishing.

✨Asking powerful questions and being honest with ourselves is healing.

✨Hearing people share their difficulties and struggles makes us realise that we are not alone feeling what we feel.

✨Sometimes it’s easier being more vulnerable with strangers, because we don’t feel judged.

✨Feeling calm in the mind and body creates a shift in our creative process - we feel more present and connected to ourselves and each other.

People left our workshop feeling:

🌀more open and less critical towards others
🤔self-ware of their feelings, desires and needs
✨accountable to create a life aligned to their values
🧡inspired and alive
🌍moved by the feeling of oneness with everybody

Thank you to everyone who courageously opened up and shared their ideas and feelings in a space with us all.
